Formed in 1954 the club quickly developed to become on of Ulster's top Junior clubs reaching the top ranks in the 80's and 90's.
Ballynahinch joined the AIL in 1995 and quickly moved from Division 4 to 3 and then straight into Division 2. A step too far at the time they dropped back into 3 at the end of the season. The following year, 98-99, they bounced straight back and remained there until last year when the Hinch lost in a dramatic encounter against Barnhall on the last day of the season. The following season the Hinch onve again bounced straight back into Division 2.
The club fields 7 adult teams, U20, U18, U16, U14 teams and has a thriving mini-rugby section.
