"I feel this new announcement regarding the restructuring of the AIB Division 1 League is a very positive step for the domestic club game in Ireland. It will create great excitement and competition in both sections of Divison 1 with the winner of section B having a tile at winning the title. Promotion and relegation between sections A and B and subsequently Division 2 keeps the vitality of the League alive. I am delighted and sincerely welcome this very positive development."

"This is a good news story for Club Rugby. Division 1 will have a much more competitive and meaningful league, there is promotion and relegation embedded into the structure from both section A and B and from Division 2. The AIB as sponsors have a new League championship which is sure to attract a much higher profile creating greater media attention. The remaining 32 clubs retain their league system of 2 leagues of 16 teams with promotion and relegation throughout, everyone looks to have been catered for in this re-shuffle."

"It looks like a good package to me, the Division 1 clubs have the smaller and more competitive league they were after. Division 2 and 3 remain the same with promotion and relegation between all 3 Divisions which keeps the ethos of the League alive. It will also be useful for those clubs being promoted up from Division 2 into Division 1 to have a slightly easier section to compete in. As a way forward I am please to welcome this thoughtful initiative."
